The study thoroughly investigates Martin Luther's comments in the Large Catechism II 66 that touch on the question: do Muslims, Christians, Jews, and pious philosophers all believe in and worship the same God? This study will walk you through the challenging history, interpretation, and translation of Luther's thoughts and will provide you with context for understanding Luther's view in contrast with other Christian thinkers.
This book is a result of the conversations and work that Concordia Publishing House did with LCMS Commission on Doctrinal Review to prepare the second edition of Concordia: The Lutheran Confessions.

This book answers the question of what Luther taught about those outside of Christianity. Do they know the One True God? In an age of "It doesn't matter what you believe, as long as you're sincere", this is an important question. Can a Muslim really know God? What about our dear loved ones and friends who claim to believe in God, just not "your God". What did Luther say about those outside of Christianity? The book's focus is one section of the Large Catechism, and author Edward Engelbrecht outlines the controversy surrounding this text, and brings the reader to a satisfying conclusion. As a bonus, there is a great discussion and sort of mini course on Formal Logic.
Rev Engelbrecht has done a wonderful service by bringing these discussions to any interested reader. The book is just 105 long, before the appendices, which add about 35 more pages, so it is not over imposing.
This one question about the One True God is very important, and necessary for Christians to get a full grip on. How will we answer this question? I think this book is a great help and benefit for those seeking an answer.
