With so many things the world tells us to define ourselves by, we seem to understand who we actually are less and less and less. But the answer to the question "who are you?" is simple, and it can be found by digging into God’s Word and discovering what it truly means to be a child of God.

Author and historian Molly Lackey walks through every aspect of who Jesus is and how He takes our brokenness, selfishness, and arrogance, and redefines us as redeemed, whole, and perfect in the eyes of the Lord. Understand what is at the heart of the Lutheran view of Jesus and grasp onto the promises of salvation. Hold onto this as your primary source of identity.

Perfect for group or individual use, each chapter has a Q&A at the end, and includes a leader guide.

Praise For Confessing Jesus:

“A lot of energy is being spent in our current culture to know one's identity. Things become even more problematic when individuals turn inward for answers. This is why Mrs. Lackey's book, Confessing Jesus, is so incredibly pertinent, timely, and helpful. With a refreshing writing style, combined with a deep knowledge of scripture, culture, and history, Mrs. Lackey turns a searching culture outward to the who, what, where, when, and why of Jesus. But how does confessing Jesus address identity? Mrs. Lackey wonderfully answers this in the pages of Confessing Jesus, saying, "to know ourselves, we must first know Christ."  Indeed, Mrs. Lackey's gem-of-a-book gets all of us to the core of our identity - hearing and knowing how Jesus defines us.”

- Rev. Dr. Matthew Richard, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Minot, ND and author of Will the Real Jesus Please Stand Up? 12 False Christs and Minute Messages: Gospel-Filled Devotions for Every Occasion

“Socrates faced death, saying, “The unexamined life is not worth living.” Molly Lackey helps us live life (as well as face death) by examining ourselves in light of who Christ is and what He has done for us. Plumbing the central truths of Scripture in eminently accessible fashion, she leads her readers to know themselves as God knows them in Christ. She faithfully teaches that life examined in light of Christ is worth living now and for eternity.”

- Rev. Dr. Kevin Golden, Associate Professor of Exegetical Theology, Concordia Seminary St. Louis

Excellent book- Pick up extras to share!

This is a well-written, engaging book by a brilliant author. Her writing helps point you to Jesus, and definitely leaves you hungering for more. I would recommend this book to any new Lutheran, someone looking to reconnect to why they're Lutheran, or even those who are searching out just what Jesus is- FOR YOU. Molly deserves some heartfelt thanks for this book; it is wonderful!

Excellent book

Excellent book that I will be reading again.

Excellent Lay-Level Book About Jesus

Molly is an accessible and thoughtful writer, skilled at communicating complex theological concepts in ways that I think most laity can understand. "Confessing Jesus" is fun to read and not cumbersome (like some theology books can be). "Confessing Jesus" grounds itself in the doctrine of God, which is a place I have always wanted a book like this to start. It's a crash course in the theology of who Jesus is that doesn't condescend to the reader, but lifts them up to better understanding. It's all about Jesus FOR YOU. It shows how all of the aspects of who Jesus is, what He did on earth, and everything else was all because He loves you and wants to save you. It's not abstract, it's extremely personal in the best way. "Confessing Jesus" is not just information about who Jesus is, but you can see Molly's love of Jesus shine through all of it. It reads like she found a precious jewel and wants everyone else to find it too. There are also great discussion points after each chapter, making it a great resource for small groups. As a convert to Lutheranism too, this quote hit home for me, "I became Lutheran because the Lutherans talk more about Jesus than anybody else does." That's the premise of this book, and it's the heart of being Lutheran.
