Have the times really changed? Is the Church actually dying? Are we truly in danger of being subsumed beneath a new, ominous culture of evil? Or is the only real difference a matter of our perspective? Is the only real change the fact that we have convinced ourselves that times have changed?
It is no secret that Christianity has been ceding ground to secular worldliness and exotic spiritualities for years. The front lines of the battle waged against the present darkness have experienced retreat after retreat, each time wagging heads saying, “If only we can rethink our strategies for mission, we can turn this tide and win the lost for Jesus.”
But for all our “rethinking,” we haven’t “rethought” nearly so much as it might seem. Perhaps, the real out-of-the-box thinking we need is not out-of-the-box at all, but inside it.
In Without Flesh , author Jonathan Fisk proposes that it isn’t that we need something new, but something we lost, something very, very old. Like . . .the most important words Jesus ever said.
Fisk’s solution is simpler than we may think. Maybe the only problem is that we just don’t want to believe that it’s true.
“Do this ,” He said.

"Is," means "Is."
This is one of the greatest books I've ever read in regards to the Lord's Supper. It provides (in my opinion) the best explanation for why "This is" means "This is." If you doubt that the Lord's Body and Blood are truly present in the Bread and Wine, buy this book, read it, and let your eyes be opened, not by Fisk's words, but by the scriptures which he so eloquently exposits. Great read, I highly recommend it!

Excellent Call to Return to the Gospel
This book is perhaps the best of this author's call to believers to return to the Lord has He has revealed Himself to His people (John 17:20, 18:37). Especially poignant in these dark days of misguided, unregenerate human reasoning.

Excellent Resource
A wonderful resource for adults and teens. My family and I enjoyed Fisk's work explaining the grammar of the original text used in the NT. Christ's words are even more clear when the original language is studied. Though a concept too mysterious to fully grasp, Christ's real presence in the Lord's Supper is a promise clearly given. A great resource to read as a family and share with confirmands.

Jesus is still alive and with His Bride
I enjoyed this book a great deal, and it started off a bit slow for me, and I wasn't sure where the focus was going to land in the first 30 or so pages.
But once Fisk narrows in on the Body of Christ and Works, it does a masterful job working through the Letter to the Corinthians and the use of the language of Body there, and then the Lord's Supper. The emphasis is on believing the actual words of Jesus and believing that what the Lord's Supper is, is what Jesus actually says it is.
Also, the list of sources in the back is a wonderful collection of quotes from those Saints that have gone before us to show this teaching is nothing new, it is what the Church has believed since its beginning.
