Pastor David
The Best Confirmation Curriculum Yet—at least, so far

I'm a sole pastor with 19 years of teaching confirmation under my belt. My class is currently in Lesson 11 of the 60-Lesson Catechism Study. This curriculum is vastly better than any of the others I've used or seen. It's written at an appropriate developmental/age level for 12-13-year-olds. The teacher's edition has helpful call-outs that explain the "why" of the lesson and its pedagogy, even suggesting where material can be cut, if necessary. My confirmation class is thoroughly engaged and shows up excited to learn. While I like to think that part of my students' enthusiasm is because of the great teacher, it's really the content that's hooked them. There are a lot of lessons to go...but so far, so good. Nice job, CPH!

I wish I would have known.

We have a 3 year confirmation program. So we didn't order new catechisms for the 7th & 8th grade classes. We are using the spiral bound 2011 edition that the families had purchased in the last 2 years. The numbering that is used in the workbook do not coincide with the numbering in the 2011 catechism. There are no additional helps for teachers or students to do homework with if they don't have the new catechism. That isn't good stewardship of the families resources. We even ordered the 2011 edition to have our 6th graders use this year along with ordering the workbooks for both the 30 & 60 lesson courses. You would have thought that someone at CPH would have caught the problem and contacted us so that we could have ordered the right catechism to go with the material. It would have also be nice if there were enough books sent. But they are back ordered. which makes it hard to teach confirmation with books that we don't have.
