Anthems of Zion Series

Read the whole series while recovering from a cold. Enjoyed it, laughed, cried, and found myself and friends on the pages. Will be sharing my set with friends and am now ordering a set to give as a gift.

I was hooked from the first chapter of the first book and I was disappointed when I had to wait for the final book to come out. If you like Anne of Green Gables, and you know your way around midwest Lutheran/LCMS culture, this series is for you! A loving, heartfelt look at the realities of life in a small town church.

This series of books is hard to put down once you have started reading them. I'm an LCMS Pastor's wife and have sung in many church choirs. Katie really puts her heart and soul into the characters. I can really identify with many of the incidents in the story. I usually don't laugh when I read a book and I found myself laughing so much. I used these three books in a book club and the members were asking for another book because they wanted to find out more about what happens with the characters. Katie Schuermann really talks about Biblical truths in a most evangelical manner. I highly recommend these books.

This series is just wonderful! I'm a librarian and LCMS member. You see very few, if any, fiction books set in an LCMS church. I cannot tell you how much I laughed, cried and identified with this story and these characters. Katie writes with heart and humor and also weaves in pertinent Biblical truths to solidify this as a must read in my mind. I've recommended it to countless patrons who come in our tiny Wisconsin library as well as friends, family and neighbors. I wish Katie would continue the story! It was a blessing to read! L.Loewen
