Women of all ages, married and single, are invited to join author Heidi Goehmann on an eight-week journey through the Song of Songs (through videos and a physical workbook), to draw near to God and His Word and discover just how much the God of the universe considers His daughters beautiful.

Heidi will lead your study—whether in community or individually—in weekly videos, where she’ll walk alongside you, diving deeply into the Song to extract the incredible beauty and truth found there. Each week, you’ll have five days of homework to complete in the workbook, designed to get you in the Word every day.

In this incredible book of the Bible, we discover deep spiritual truths, grapple with some of the most uncomfortable topics and questions found in the Bible, and—perhaps best of all—see the fantastic and lavish love our Savior offers us.

Workbooks and videos are sold separately. For a group study, each participant needs a workbook, but videos only need to be purchased once. Videos are available for purchase on Vimeo. For help on purchasing videos, read our how-to guide.

Video Sessions

  • Session 1: Draw Near; Song of Songs 1:1–7 (24:31) — Why don’t we open the Song of Songs more often? This video discusses factors that make the Song intimidating, but also inviting. We will review six different themes of interpretation for the Song and, most important, discover more about who this God is who invites us to draw near.
  • Session 2: The Purpose of Pleasure; Song of Songs 1:12–14 (13:52) — We can’t ignore the spiciness factor in the Song of Songs. The word "pleasure" alongside the Bible may make us slightly uncomfortable, but God sees pleasure in many things. We can’t let the world steal the gifts of God and call them something dirty. In this video, we’ll discover how God sees pleasure as relational, sometimes spicy, sometimes not, and most likely sees it far differently than we would be taught by the world around us. (Note: This video is still rated PG.)
  • Session 3: Desire, Desperation, and Salvation; Song of Songs 3:1–3 (15:01) — Our God seeks us, finds us, and puts a desire for Him deep inside of us. The fall into sin complicates everything in this life, including our desire—for Him, for men, and in all our relationships. Song of Songs 3 reveals the lovers’ own experiences with these complications and gives us a great place to contemplate this for our own lives.
  • Session 4: Altogether Beautiful; Song of Songs 4:1–7 (14:24) — God is concerned with the concept of beauty. He gives us wisdom throughout Scripture to find healthy grounding of just how valuable we are to Him. In this video, we’ll redefine how we think about the word "beautiful" and find a new vantage point by which to understand body image, identity, weakness, and grace.
  • Session 5: Folly and Forgiveness; Song of Songs 5:1–8 (12:55) — Please tell me I’m not the only one who has done something truly foolish! I know I’m not; I’m assured I’m not in the Word. We all are verifiably foolish, but what does God do with foolish? We’ll address that and find some peace in our foolishness as the Shulammite shares her own in Song of Songs 5.
  • Session 6: That Which Is Truly Awesome; Song of Songs 6:4–10 (12:19) — God gives us all kinds of awesome gifts in this life, and Song of Songs highlights many of them. In this video, though, we take a step back to look at some Hebrew language and hone in on the things that are truly awesome in Christ Jesus.
  • Session 7: A Love Stronger than Death; Song of Songs 8:6–7 (14:08) — Is jealousy ever okay? What is the difference between fierce love and jealousy? What do these look like in both our spiritual and our romantic lives? In this video, we’ll consider the elements of the seal and the flame in Song of Songs 8 for insight into true belonging as we walk through this life.
  • Session 8: Make Haste; Song of Songs 8:13–14 (12:53) — The conclusion to the Song of Songs feels unfinished at best. However, the open nuances of the poetry lead us to consider the place and truth of eternity in our lives and why so much of life feels like we are left in the waiting, longing for more, for something deeper, for something more complete.

Absolutely Loved this Study

I never imagined the insights that I would gain by doing this study on the book Song of Songs. I learned a lot!! Heidi made this book of Scripture come alive for me. I never understood quite how this book of the Bible fit and pointed to Jesus and His bride, the Church, until I did this study. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a better understanding of this part of Scripture and the cultural context of it as well. This is a wonderful study to do with a small group. I highly recommend using the videos that go with this study too! Loved it!

Insightful and well researched

This study enhances an already beautiful book making it Altogether Beautiful indeed. The accompanying video is a blessing as well. I'd recommend this to any group of women.

Our women's group just finished this Bible study. Everyone loved it! Several of my ladies stated it was the best Bible study they have done. Heidi's materials are engaging! Her 3 offered levels of study worked just right for our group, allowing each participant a ”guilt free” opportunity to enjoy the materials and the class at whatever level of individual work they could handle. Heidi guided us through a puzzling book of scripture and brought it to life, but also brought new insight into how we view and respond in all of our relationships - with the Father, His Son, and our human relationships. This study helped each of us see how we truly ARE "Altogether Beautiful". The ladies in our group can't wait for Heidi to write us a new study!! We did this Bible study with the videos, which I do recommend be used, because they do add so much by starting each week off with Heidi personally leading us into the coming chapter. This was an absolutely delightful Bible study experience.

A Recommended Treasure

This summer, the women in my bible study, are excitedly going through this study of The Song of Songs. It's fantastic! As the Song unfolds in each lesson and video, I feel immeasurably encouraged to step deeper into a relationship with Jesus, my husband and others- to live with a greater purpose for godliness, hope, tranquility, and empathy. The transferring of Solomon and his lover's intimacy to our modern lives is disarmingly candor, wise, humble and altogether beautiful. Men and women both with benefit from this thoughtful and provoking study. Thank you Heidi.

It's fun doing this with friends!

My pastor's wife told our women's Bible study group about Heid and Altogether Beautiful. We have watched the first two videos (on Vimeo) and met three times so far. The workbook is very rich in content, and Heidi's Biblical understanding is superb. Her videos make you feel like she is in your living room with you! She is approachable, funny, real, and faithful to Scripture. We already sense a growing realization of how much God pursues us and takes delight in us! And we are seeing ourselves and each other, not to mention our daughters, as Altogether Beautiful!

Fantastic study!!

This is my first experience with one if Heidi’s Bible studies and I couldn’t be more pleased. I like to dig deep in scripture, ponder hard questions, read the notes & cross-references in my Study Bible, always asking, “What does scripture say about that?” Heidi’s thought provoking questions encourage this and help women see themselves and others through the eyes of Christ as Altogether Beautiful even in our broken & sinful state. She also does a fantastic job explaining the Song as a typological picture of Christ & the Church as His bride. The workbook has plenty of space for answering questions, making notes, and writing prayers. I love the prayer prompts at the end of each lesson!! The vidoes to start each week are encouraging, insightful, and give a lovely glimpse of Heidi’s personality. Whether you do this study alone or with another group of women, you will be strengthend & encouraged in your faith and in love for your neighbor. I look forward to more studies from Heidi!
