Grace Williams isn’t looking for complications because, really, isn’t life complicated enough? She’s a single mom with four children. She has unresolved issues with her ex-husband. Her sister nags at her about going to church. Her kids are not perfect. And neither is Grace—she has hang-ups about organized religion, she is overwhelmed by suppressed guilt and grief, she is judgmental, and she can’t control her hair.

When a man shows up on her doorstep, Grace’s life is turned upside down. David is terrific with her kids, she loves his family, and her sister thinks he’s perfect. But he’s a little too pushy. And he wants her to change.

For anyone who’s ever made a mistake, Grace Alone is a story about forgiveness, hope, and grace in the midst of a messy life. Because God specializes in new beginnings.

Having Faith

I thought this was a great book for those who can relate as single mothers, and for those who are new to to the Lutheran faith. This book will keep you in suspense with the many twists and turns it takes. The overall message is finding grace and mercy in difficult situations and learning to rely on your faith in those circumstances.

I rarely read fiction, but this one was different. An enjoyable read this weekend, and appreciated a faith-based story about Grace & the nature of Grace in our everyday lives.

Wonderful read, full of Biblical truths

Grace Alone is Christian fiction at its best. The characters immediately drew me into their story and were portrayed with true realism.Likewise, the storyline portrays the complications of living in our sinful world and points both the characters and the reader to Jesus. The theology is central to the book but not heavy-handed. And the humor and overall tone kept me smiling. I look forward to reading more from this talented author!

Expect the Unexpected

Mrs. Meyer brings her characters to life in this novel and even though it's fiction, I felt connected to them. The "unexpected" twists in the book prevented me from putting it down. I had to keep reading. The bible references fit perfectly. I am eager to see more of Mrs. Meyer's writings and I highly recommend this book.

An Excellent Example of Grace

On the back cover of this book there are the words, "Expect the Unexpected." This is most certainly true! I honestly did not want to put the book down. When I had to, I couldn't wait to get back to it. Mrs. Meyer is to be commended for bringing her characters to life in such a readable and memorable manner. She certainly captured my interest and continued to hold it from start to finish. Mrs. Meyer expertly included Bible references and Hymn verses without any problem. Her explanation of GRACE is spot-on and understandable. Mrs. Meyer is very clever in introducing her readers to Lutheran worship and theology in a non-threatening manner. I certainly hope there will be more books of this nature by Ruth Meyer. Anyone who reads this book will not forget the characters or what GRACE is!

Not too serious book about serious stuff.

What happens when a the 42-year-old bachelor principal of a Lutheran grade school moves to town and falls for a divorced, non-church-going, single mother of four? That’s the premise of this novel. This story allows Meyer to tackle serious issues without it being too serious. What role does faith have in a relationship where only one party has said faith? How should a "suitor" (for lack of a better word) relate to the children of the woman he's dating? How does one go about sharing their faith to those they care about? How does one show their faith isn't a farce when they fail and sin? How does one overcome guilt? This book is not boring. If you're a person who reads a lot of books, buy this book. It'll take you maybe two days to read it. If you have church library, this book belongs in it. It speaks of grace in a clearly Christocentric way, which is often lacking from pop-Christian literature. Hats off to Ruth Meyer on her first novel.
