People remain thankful for science, but they also recognize that science does not hold all the answers. In fact, they see that science can raise more questions than it answers, driving people on further quests for understanding truth, and contentment. Faith and Science in a Skeptical Age shows Christians how to respond to a world focused on finding answers to life’s mysteries by exploring current topics and their impacts on our culture.

Topics covered include:

  • Heaven and hell
  • Near-death experiences
  • Angels
  • Demons
  • Miracles
  • Alien exploration
  • Stem cell research
  • Cloning, and more

Faith and Science in a Skeptical Age is a companion to our Faith on the Edge Bible study series.

Ugly how science has become this "idol" of adornment

This book is not written for the Christian in mind. It seems its science or your faith in God. It discusses science like an obnoxious soar. With statements like: The skeptics and critics have not understood the persistence of Christianity because they have not understood the person of Jesus Christ. Man has created "science" as a definition to understand things like the sun for instance. We use the elements we find on earth and wrap them in a man's definition of understanding when God created simply with His almighty breath. The sun just like the moon is not made of anything we have here on earth but science sure tries to use it to define everything... Man hasn't been past any solar system to know it exists, but the word science is man's clumsy expression of being "like-god"... science doesn't know anything. God created heaven and earth and that's IT! Man's ego can show pretty drawings and cgi and say "Science CAN" with all the authority he can muster... but its a deception. God breathed the heavens into existence... just like your Bible tells you GOD made heavens and the earth.... man tries to fill in the blanks. Don't let him, aka science!! Do not buy this book. There is nothing you will learn from it. Stay away from anything that has "faith" & "science" in the same sentence. I am recently rereading all my books in my library... Go for How We Got the Bible by Neil R Lightfoot instead.

Why Intelligent Design Might not be Intelligent

As a believer in the Bible I liked a lot of the book...An objectionable part of the book suggests Christian scientists use their abilities to show how science points to God. It sounds a bit like if the science isn't there it must be supernatural. Good thing people didn't draw that conclusion with a flat earth. Science evolves. The section on vocations reminds me of some of the "rules" a 3am seed money flimflam artist comes up with on TV. I think it's a mistake to try to explain God with what man understands even though that's all we have to work with. People tend to ignore God is not constrained by time or space according to the Bible. He is supernatural. So when says he did something in a day what's it really mean? Anything or everything. When God says 24hrs he means 24hrs but time means nothing to God unless he's made promise. So what can God do in 24hrs and what would it look like? No man can answer that question. The Bible requires faith from beginning to end not scientific proof. Christ could probably be on earth walking on water doing miracles and it would still not be enough proof who he is. Some people like things the way they are on earth and for them there will never be enough proof...
