Prayer - Overworked!
This is the 40th LifeLight course we have used at our church with a loyal group of mostly seniors who have been with the class for many years. We are finding this course to be the most difficult one we have encountered. Class members express dismay over the study questions, saying they just don't understand what is being asked. They look for clearer connections between the questions and the references, and they just can't find them. As the small group facilitator I share some of the author's comments in the Leader's Guide, but even I have a difficult time trying to bring out the main point or to explain the question. Thanks to a retired pastor in the class, he is able to help shed light on the topic sometimes. Participants are finding the day by day study at home especially burdensome not only because of the difficulty of the questions, but also the many,or long passages used for each day of the session. The session topics sounded great when we chose the course and the individual day titles give a hint about emphasis for each day. It's just that when we get into each question we find it is just almost too much - too much! We have a great group of people who thoroughly enjoy Bible study and they are always anxious to choose the next LifeLight course. We do three courses per year using a mix of OT, NT, and Foundation classes. Folks are hanging in there but they just wanted me to let someone know their feelings about this particular course. Perhaps a review and a revision is in order for this one.
