Traveling with Martin Luther

A Tour Guide to the Reformation in Germany

Not just for tourists . . .

This four-color guidebook brings the great reformer to life. From Eisenach to Wittenberg, from Erfurt to the Wartburg, readers discover the traces of Martin Luther all across Germany. Whether reading for pleasure or in preparation for a trip to the land of the Reformation, young and old will walk in the footsteps of one of the three most important people of the past millennium as determined by Life magazine. Through his copious writings, his translation of the Bible into German, his dedication to education, and his use of the fledgling printing industry, Luther worked to reform the church according to God’s Word, and in the process changed the world.

From the Introduction

This volume is both for tourists and for those who do not leave their own homes far from Martin Luther’s German homeland. It enables readers who will never see Luther’s native turf to imagine more precisely how his life unfolded in the surroundings in which God called him to serve His Church. It also provides a most helpful preparation for those who want to travel to the “Lutherlands” and see the sites themselves. It is the tourist’s vademecum, to be thumbed through while one walks through the streets and reviewed evenings after or before following in the reformer’s footsteps.
