J. Wayne Kerr

Rev. J. Wayne Kerr has served congregations as an educator, Kantor, and pastor in Arkansas, Texas, and California for over forty years. For the past nineteen years, Jonathan served as Kantor and Associate Pastor at West Portal Lutheran Church and School in San Fransisco, California, where he directed both the church and school music program as well as served as pastor for the parish K–8 school. He completed a Bachelor of Education Degree (1981) through the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, a Master in Music Theory/Composition (1989) at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, Arkansas, Pastoral Certification Perkins Seminary–SMU, Dallas, Texas (1996) and a Master of Divinity from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri (2014). A noted composer of handbell and organ music, Jonathan is published through Concordia Publishing House, MorningStar Music, Choristers Guild, and Augsburg Fortress Press among others. In January 2023 Jonathan and his wife Marilyn retired and relocated to the St. Louis, Missouri area.
