Lord of light! The darkness broken
At Your mighty, holy Word
With the truth of mercy spoken,
All the gloomy void deterred.
Fill enlightened hearts with praise
At the wonder of Your ways.
With the dismal fog dispelling,
Thankful hearts Your promise telling.

Lord of life! Our King anointed,
To the river shore You came
At the blessed time appointed
To assume Your royal name.
Claimed as God the Father’s Son,
Now claim us, whom You have won
In the ever-living waters.
We are royal sons and daughters.

Lord of love! Our Adam buried
In Your soul-renewing flood.
To the cross our sins were carried
And were drowned in purest blood.
Now we daily die to sin,
And we daily rise again!
Through the Spirit, we are living
In the freedom You are giving.

Lord of all! You hold creation;
Keep Your children safe from harm.
Your redeeming compensation
Leads us to our Father’s arms.
With Your Spirit, make us whole:
Cleanse our spirits to extol:
Let our lives foretell the story
Of Your coming throne and glory.
