InPrayer App | Frequently Asked Questions
About InPrayer
The InPrayer App is designed to be a single and sustainable app that will offer many devotional and prayer resources from CPH. Within InPrayer, customers will be able select the content that best fits their devotional needs. Depending on the particular type of content, it will be available as a subscription or as a one-time purchase.
On November 9, 2023 CPH launched the InPrayer App on Apple with newly curated content from Treasury of Daily Prayer and this Advent season’s upcoming devotional, Peace Came to Earth.
The app was launched on iOS in time to be available for the start of the church year. An Android version and feature improvements for the iOS version are scheduled for Spring 2024.
What if I already purchased PrayNow?
If you are a current user of PrayNow, its content remains available to you for as long as your device or operating system (iOS or Android) enables it to function. While it is no longer available for purchase from Apple, if you have it, you can still use it.
How to redownload from the App Store »
Moving forward, the app will no longer be supported or maintained with new updates, so it may not be compatible with new devices or software upgrades.
Why do I have to pay for something I already bought?
Good question! Simply put, when we released PrayNow more than a decade ago, the app landscape was new and no one envisioned the ongoing costs. Just as books (and cars, and appliances – and even your cell phone on which you enjoy Treasury) require replacement over time, so also do applications require upkeep. Due to continual new operating systems and devices, app code must be regularly monitored, maintained, and rewritten to work in an ever-evolving tech environment. We believe in our content and we are committed to steward our investment in future technology. As a result, we chose not to rewrite just one application, but instead to invest in modern software code to deliver a variety of content in the years ahead
Does InPrayer include any new content that was not in PrayNow?
Yes, for Treasury of Daily Prayer, we’ve added the text of the daily readings from Concordia: The Lutheran Confessions. Additionally, the reader experience is enhanced with new layouts, pleasing visuals, and the ability to change type size and viewing preferences. Additional content from Treasury of Daily Prayer is set to launch in Spring 2024.
What else will be included the InPrayer app?
Portals of Prayer will be available for in-app purchase within InPrayer later this year. It will also continue to be available for standalone purchase on both Apple and Android, but without the enhanced reader experience provided through InPrayer.
A variety of additional devotional content will be added to InPrayer on an ongoing basis. Users will be able to browse and select devotions that best fit their needs and interests.
Can I access my Portals of Prayer digital subscription through InPrayer?
Yes, if you have already subscribed to the digital version of Portals of Prayer through cph.org, you can link your subscription under the "Profile" view of InPrayer.
If you do not already have a subscription, you may purchase Portals of Prayer via an in-app purchase through InPrayer.
Customers who purchased Portals of Prayer digital content through the Portals of Prayer app will not be able to restore their purchases through InPrayer due to App Store limitations.
Please note: Update your app to InPrayer version 1.1.0 or later to access Portals of Prayer content in the app.
Thank you for your understanding during this time of product transition. Your feedback is always welcome, and we use it as we strive for continuous improvement in service to you and the Church.
