War veterans, first responders, victims of domestic abuse, and those ravaged by natural disasters experience spiritual brokenness, commonly referred to as moral injury. Their concept of who God is and how His world should work has been shattered by sin and by the devastation that sin has brought on God’s creation and into people’s lives.

About the Author
Kristin A. Vargas is a part-time archivist assistant at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. She has earned a master’s degree in theological studies and is working on her PhD in ethics. She has taught this group study and many adult classes at her LCMS congregation, St. Paul in Fort Worth. Her area of academic study includes religion and violence from a Lutheran perspective.
