Written to encourage returning exiles, the Books of 1 and 2 Chronicles emphasize God’s covenant grace and His messianic promises to His people through King David. In 1 Chronicles, the Chronicler includes genealogies beginning with Adam and highlights of David’s idealized reign.
In 2 Chronicles, the Chronicler highlights the idealized reign of King Solomon. As the exiles sought to rebuild Solomon’s once-glorious temple, God was already building up His people for the appearance of His incarnate Word, David’s Son, our Savior Jesus Christ.
In this study you will learn about • God’s loving forgiveness evidenced in the life of His people; • God’s gracious deeds and the purpose of recounting them; • God’s faithful promise to provide the world a Savior.
