This 14" x 18" poster features the altar painting in St. Peter & Paul Church in Weimar, Germany by Lucas Cranach, the Elder and Lucas Cranach, the Younger.
The painting is a rich presentation of biblical truth and also a personal confession of Cranach's faith. The crucified Christ is the predominant image with the risen Christ trampling death and the devil underfoot.
Lucas Cranach, the Elder, a well-respected 16th-century artist, was unable to complete the painting before his death in 1553. His son, Lucas Cranach, the Younger, finished it in 1555.
