Taken from J.S. Bach’s cantatas Nos. 143 and 67, “Lord Jesus Christ, Thou Prince of Peace” is perfect for the Christmas season. Scored for SATB choir, violin, cello, and continuo, the choral tune DU FRIEDEFÜRST, HERR JESU CHRIST is first introduced and then sung in four-part harmony as a chorale. With the continuo line played by the cello and the violin embellishing the melody, there is a beautiful interplay between the 2 instruments that balances well. This provides an excellent structure for the choir to bring out the text.
