O triune God, what love You show,
What life and favor You bestow,
To join Your name, so strong and great,
With water to regenerate!
For in this washing You declare
This child to be Your holy heir,
A child a promise and delight
Here clothed with Jesus' robe of white.
Born new and raised from death to cry:
“O Abba, Father—God Most High!
O Christ, my Brother, God's own Son!
O Holy Spirit, Three in One!”
Lord, keep this child within Your grace
Upon whose head and heart we trace
The holy cross, that sacred sign
And precious mark of love divine.
