O HEILAND, REISS DIE HIMMEL AUF is arranged for two-part mixed chorus in an Advent offering by David M. Cherwien. The text, “O Savior Rend the Heavens Wide” is set beautifully to organ and chorus. This tune certainly suggests a stately entrance of our Lord coming down to earth and could be a good contrast to the calm lullabies often heard at Christmas. This also could serve well for End Times services. When not in unison, the male voices sing melody and the female voices sing descant parts.
