Many lives face challenges, but few lives exceed those of C.F.W. Walther (1811–1887). Born into a devout Christian family, Ferdinand wanted to serve God and sought to follow him faithfully. But life for Ferdinand held sickness, disillusionment, and a series of other challenges in a strange new land far from home. Still, God never abandoned Ferdinand and He continued to teach and provide for him throughout Ferdinand’s long and highly productive life.
This book recalls Walther's adventures as he proclaimed the Gospel in its truth and purity, as a parish pastor, the first president of a large church body and a seminary, and as a writer/editor/publisher. Young readers who at times wonder where God is in the struggles and uncertainties of their life will find this account especially meaningful.
