Dale A. Witte pairs the Paul Gerhardt text “A Lamb Goes Uncomplaining Forth” with Kurt J. Eggert’s tune, Wedding Glory, originally written for the final stanza of that hymn, which begins “Lord, When Your Glory I Shall See.” The voicing of this piece is extremely versatile: the first two stanzas can stand alone with only a soprano descant over the melody, which may or may not include the congregation. The final stanza, also, can stand alone, and is an a cappella SATB stanza based on Carl F. Schalk’s well-loved TTBB setting, order No. 97-7348. This piece is perfect throughout the Lenten season as well as at the end of the Church Year or for funerals, and is the hymn of the day on Palm Sunday/The Sunday of the Passion.
