“The true treasure of the Church is the Most Holy Gospel of the glory and the grace of God.”
–Martin Luther, Thesis 62, The Ninety-Five Theses, October 1517.
Little did Martin Luther know what impact his ninety-five theses would have when he posted them on the Castle Church door in Wittenberg, Germany, but they set in motion the events that resulted in what we today know as the Reformation of the Church.
Luther rediscovered and recovered the treasure that is above all treasures: the good news of Jesus Christ, the wonderful and joyful truth that God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, into this world of ours to conquer our greatest enemies: sin, death and the Devil, to purchase and win us back from our slavery to sin and the misery it brings, in order to bring us to an eternity of life and peace. This gift of salvation is ours by grace, through faith, entirely on account of Christ – alone.
The treasure of the Gospel is what the Reformation is all about and what it meant then, and what it means now. The Reformation is an enduring power in the Church today, for through the Reformation the Church and all who hear the Gospel message are constantly being renewed and strengthened in the love and peace of Christ.
On these web pages you will find resources, books, music and gifts that will help you grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ and your understanding of, and appreciation for, the Reformation.
