Cheri Bladholm
is an accomplished artist who has illustrated many children's books. She lives in Syracuse, New York, with her husband and their children. She is one of the top illustrators in the Christian publishing world today. Bladholm works by painting, in watercolor or oil, scenes from photographs. “I add my impressions to the scene in the photograph. I may add a basket or pottery to the scene, but I always try to capture the way the people in the photos look. That’s essential.” Bladholm said her painting style focuses on realism, which is somewhat unique in illustrating today. “The reason I do realism is so that the models are honored in the book. It’s meaningful for them and their families to be able to recognize themselves in the book. And, hopefully, it gives them a glimpse of how the Father sees them.” She and her husband, Glen, have two children. |
