This 30-minute documentary defines St. Louis’ premier Christian publisher through three compelling stories:
A Company Story:
Discover the history of Concordia Publishing House and its nearly 140-year involvement in the St. Louis business and religious community. Interviews with prominent Lutheran scholar, Dr. Paul Maier, and historian, Dr. Robert Archibald of the Missouri History Museum compliment the narrative of the company’s early years in St. Louis up to the present day. Employees and company leaders connect the rich legacy of the company’s past to its efforts today.
A Congregation’s Story:
The real story of Concordia Publishing House is found in the lives of its customers. In the summer of 2008, the company sponsored a Vacation Bible School program at newly rebuilt Christ Lutheran Church, located in Chalmette, La. The company’s commitment to providing the very best resources for use in churches throughout the country is demonstrated through this compelling story, which is told through narration and interviews with residents of southern Louisiana.
A Personal Story:
Concordia Publishing House resources contribute to stories that are found closer to home, in individual lives, often no farther away than the kitchen table. Discussion about a new resource for women, A New Song, anchors this section of the program. Author Jane Wilke discusses the book’s usefulness in personal Bible study, while editors and staff discuss the importance of providing for individual faith through this and similar products.
Over time, Concordia Publishing House has become a leading publisher of Lutheran Christian resources and is known around the world. The company strives to develop products that meet the real needs of today’s people.
