Title: Office Assistant Status: Full-time
The Office Assistant is responsible for providing administrative, secretarial, and clerical support to the editors assigned to the Professional and Academic Books, and Book Development departments.
Candidate must possess excellent organizational, time management, and project management skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; superior written and verbal communication skills; be detail oriented; ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-pace environment; strong computer skills and be proficient using the Microsoft Office Suite of products; two years of secretarial experience; high school graduate. Knowledge of the educational ministries of the LCMS is a plus.

Title: Developer of Emerging Products Status: Full-time
The Developer, Emerging Products researches, designs, develops, and maintains all facets of new and emerging products and is responsible for product planning, requirements gathering, applications' logic, user interface, database architecture, installation, and distribution of updates.
Candidates should possess knowledge of one or more programming/scripting languages/frameworks, including Ruby on Rails, PHP, C#3.0, .Net 3.5, Microsoft Visual Studio 08, SQL, XML, HTML, Javascript, CSS, and Flash CS2+/Actionscript 3.0; BA/BS in IT, MIS, or a related field; one or more years experience in a digital technology or programming position.

Title: Assistant Marketing Manager Status: Full-time
This position works with the Senior Marketing Manager in all aspects of marketing Curriculum, Sunday School, Day School, Midweek, Confirmation, and Vacation Bible School curriculum products. Duties include:
• Support attainment of sales and margin objectives • Compile product information and prepare product briefs • Assist with the development of assigned business plans • Verify stock numbers and appropriate EAN/UPC codes to new curriculum products are assigned by the production coordinator. Secure necessary ad codes for curriculum promotions • Assist with the development and initiation of product proposals for all new products • Prepare presentations for sales meetings, workshops, conferences, customer service education, and other appropriate forums to communicate marketing objectives and sales potential • Assist in maintaining and updating curriculum product on CPH web site • Maintain effective customer relations through timely and appropriate correspondence to those requesting information concerning curriculum materials • Assist in proofreading product and promotional pieces • Gather and maintain records of products, prices, distribution, and promotions of competitors
The successful candidate must possess strong knowledge of the Christian faith and tradition; superior project and time management skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong analytical skills and be detail oriented; ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-pace environment; ability to research and recognize marketing opportunities; strong computer skills and be proficient using Microsoft Suite of products; knowledge in the areas of printing, graphic design or design layout; Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or related field; One year experience in marketing, project management, or related field.

Title: Editor, Vacation Bible School Status: Full-time
The Editor of VBS develops curriculum materials for use in Vacation Bible School and provides leadership in their articulation. The editor partners with other curriculum developers and with district and synod officials charged with responsibilities for child ministries. Duties include:
1. Provides leadership for the development of overall plans for the VBS curriculum, including comprehensive scope and sequence, course outlines, and specifications for individual courses. 2. Works cooperatively with other members of the VBS team and other curriculum developers to insure the timely production of theologically sound and pedagogically excellent materials for use in congregational child ministry programs. 3. Identifies writers, and orients, counsels, and supervises the development of manuscripts. 4. Carries out periodic reevaluation and, when necessary, revision of extant materials. 5. Responds to those who communicate with CPH in reference to VBS materials. 6. Develops supplementary materials to help those who use CPH curriculums. 7. Performs substantive edit of manuscripts. 8. Ensures that manuscripts adhere to Chicago Manual of Style and where applicable to Concordia house style. 9. Writes and presents product briefs at Publisher’s Review Committee. 10. Prepares annual budget and operations plan. 11. Prepares and presents workshops to equip and encourage VBS teachers and other congregational staff in child, youth, and adult ministry. 12. Works cooperatively with other Editorial teams from time to time to meet overall division goals.
The successful candidate must:
• Possess knowledge of LCMS doctrine and practice; the philosophy of Christian education, especially as that applies to child evangelism and learning; volunteer educational agencies in the church, particularly VBS forums; strong PC skills with high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook); and InCopy/InDesign software.
• Be skilled in writing and editing, particularly as this pertains to curriculum development; planning, organizing, and systematizing staff workloads; delegating authority and responsibility; working cooperatively in a team setting; and dealing with others empathetically and with tact.
• Be able to communicate zeal for proclaiming the Gospel of Christ, especially through VBS; work creatively; meet deadlines; and adjust to last minute schedule changes and deadline demands is essential.
• Have a Master’s degree or its equivalent in theology or education is desirable; five years experience in writing, editing, and publishing curricular educational materials; and listed on the official roster of the LCMS is preferred.
